A relative newcomer in the optics world, Swampfox Optics has quickly gained attention by offering practical and affordable optics for shooters. Their lineup includes rifle scopes, prism sights, LPVOs, and red-dot optics aimed at both tactical and defensive applications.

Low-power variable optics (LPVOs) have become one of the most versatile sighting systems available for modern rifles. Designed for both close-quarters speed and mid-range precision, LPVOs are widely used in tactical training, competition shooting, and modern sporting rifles.
One standout example is the SAI 6 1-6x24mm LPVO, produced by SAI Optics. This optic combines rugged construction with an innovative reticle system designed specifically for rapid engagement at varying distances.
The company behind the optic is connected to Armament Technology Incorporated, which is also responsible for respected optics brands such as ELCAN SpecterDR and the high-end Tangent Theta Rifle Scope Series. That pedigree places the SAI 6 in strong company among premium optics.
The SAI 6 1-6x24mm LPVO uses a 30mm maintube and a 24mm objective lens, a common configuration for LPVOs. Unlike some newer scopes that use larger 34mm tubes, the 30mm design keeps the scope lighter without sacrificing performance.
Key specifications include:
The scope features capped turrets, which are generally preferred for LPVOs. Instead of dialing elevation adjustments like a long-range scope, most shooters rely on the reticle’s holdover marks while quickly adjusting magnification.

The SAI 6 1-6x24mm LPVO is particularly well suited for rifles such as the AR-15 Rifle Platform.
During testing, the optic was mounted on a LaRue Tactical AR-15 Rifle, demonstrating excellent compatibility with modern sporting rifles. The scope offers 3.5 inches of eye relief, allowing comfortable shooting from standard AR shooting positions.
The optic also comes in a Flat Dark Earth (FDE) finish, a color that pairs well with many modern rifles and equipment setups.
Additionally, the scope is built to withstand harsh environments and is rated waterproof for two hours at a depth of three meters.
The most distinctive feature of the SAI 6 1-6x24mm LPVO is its Rapid Aiming Feature (RAF) reticle.
Many first-focal-plane LPVOs have reticles that become very small at 1× magnification, making them harder to use for fast close-range shots. The RAF reticle solves this issue with four angular aiming indicators that point toward the center of the reticle.
These shapes guide the shooter’s eye toward the center aiming point, allowing the optic to function similarly to a red-dot sight when used at 1× magnification.
This design eliminates the need for extremely bright illumination to achieve fast target acquisition.
At the maximum 6× magnification, the reticle reveals additional features.
One of the most useful is the Vertical Subtension Optical Rangefinder (VSOP) located in the lower portion of the reticle. This feature helps estimate distance using a target roughly the size of a standard IPSC silhouette.
While not as precise as a laser rangefinder, the VSOP can provide quick distance estimates when other tools are unavailable.
The reticle is etched into glass and includes illumination powered by a CR2032 battery with nine brightness settings. The brightness control includes an “off” position between each level, allowing shooters to quickly turn illumination on or off.

The optic was tested extensively during a carbine course at Gunsite Academy in Arizona, one of the most respected firearms training facilities in the United States.
Training included engagements out to 200 meters, as well as close-quarters shooting inside a shoot-house environment.
At 1× magnification, the RAF reticle allowed extremely fast target acquisition during close-range drills. The open center area ensured that the reticle did not obscure the target, making it easier to place accurate shots quickly.
The magnification ring was also notably smooth, allowing fast transitions from close-range shooting to mid-range engagements.
The SAI 6 1-6x24mm LPVO includes several useful accessories:
The Killflash ARD is a honeycomb-style attachment that reduces light reflection from the objective lens, which can help prevent glare or visual detection.
While many optics charge extra for these accessories, they come included with the SAI 6.
The SAI 6 1-6x24mm LPVO has an MSRP of about $1,300, with retail prices typically slightly lower.
Considering its design pedigree shared with high-end optics like those from Tangent Theta the price is competitive within the premium LPVO market.
One small downside is that the optic does not include a throw lever, which many shooters prefer for quickly adjusting magnification. However, one is available separately.
The SAI 6 1-6x24mm LPVO stands out as a well-built optic designed specifically for tactical rifles and competition shooting.
Its strengths include:
While it carries a premium price tag, the scope offers performance comparable to many of the best LPVOs on the market.
For shooters looking for a versatile optic for an AR-15 or similar rifle, the SAI 6 delivers the speed and precision needed for both close-quarters engagements and mid-range shooting.
