The Wilson Combat EDC X9 2.0 is a modern double-stack 1911 that blends classic feel with optics-ready capability and higher capacity. Slim, customizable, and highly accurate, it suits both carry and enthusiast use. Premium-priced, it delivers top-tier craftsmanship and performance.

Wilson Combat has a long reputation for building elite firearms, and the EDC X9 2.0 continues that legacy. This updated version builds upon the original EDC X9 design introduced in 2016, refining both ergonomics and construction while maintaining the pistol’s reputation for reliability and precision.
The EDC X9 2.0 is a double-stack 1911-style pistol chambered in 9mm, offering the familiar 1911 trigger feel with increased capacity and modern enhancements. Its frame is machined from high-strength 7075 aluminum alloy, paired with a precisely fitted steel slide and an integrally ramped barrel designed for smooth feeding and improved case support.
The slide features front and rear X-TAC cocking serrations for a secure grip during manipulation. All edges are beveled to prevent snags or discomfort, making it well-suited for daily carry. A generously sized ejection port ensures consistent extraction and ejection of spent casings.
An external extractor is used for long-term durability and reduced maintenance needs. The tri-top slide design helps reduce glare, while taller sights allow co-witnessing with a mounted red-dot optic. The barrel incorporates a cone lockup system, eliminating the need for a traditional barrel bushing, and includes extensive fluting to reduce weight and improve aesthetics. A recessed crown protects the muzzle from wear and damage.
Wilson Combat offers extensive customization options for the EDC X9 2.0. Buyers can choose whether to include an integrated light rail, select barrel and slide lengths, and pick from a range of finish colors. Grip colors, trigger length, fiber optic sight color, and ambidextrous safety options are also available.
Magazine options include standard 15-round magazines and extended 18-round magazines. A flared magazine well funnel is optional, offering faster reloads at the cost of slightly increased bulk.

One of the biggest changes in the 2.0 model is the updated frame design. The earlier model used a multi-piece grip assembly, but the 2.0 moves to a solid frame with removable grips secured by screws. This allows easier grip swaps and gives the pistol a slimmer, more natural feel in the hand.
The front and back straps feature the aggressive X-TAC texture pattern, ensuring a secure grip even in adverse conditions. Overall, the new frame design makes the pistol feel closer to a single-stack 1911 while still offering double-stack capacity.
As expected from a premium 1911-style pistol, the EDC X9 2.0 delivers a crisp and clean trigger pull. The trigger typically falls between 3.5 and 4.5 pounds, with testing showing an average pull just above 3 pounds. Reset is tactile and audible, making it suitable for both defensive and competition use.
During testing, the pistol demonstrated exceptional accuracy, easily capable of sub-inch groups at 25 yards in ideal conditions. Reliability was consistent across different ammunition types, and the magazines performed flawlessly under heavy use.

The base 4-inch model carries a premium price tag, with additional options increasing the cost further. Despite the price, the pistol is positioned as a long-term investment—built to last a lifetime and maintain performance for generations.
