Stoeger’s ThinLine 9mm: Full Review of the Ultra-Slim Double-Stack

In today’s concealed-carry market, thin is always in. The new ThinLine from Stoeger Industries pushes that idea further by combining a one-inch-wide profile with true double-stack capacity something that would have sounded improbable only a few years ago.

By blending the slim slide and grip dimensions of its micro-compact designs with the longer grip frame of its compact models, Stoeger created a pistol that offers increased capacity without sacrificing concealability. The result is a striker-fired 9mm that feels closer to a single-stack in width, yet carries like a duty-ready compact.

The steel slide features aggressive front and rear cocking serrations and comes standard with three-dot night sights in dovetails. The slide is optics-ready, cut for the RMSc footprint, allowing direct mounting of compatible red dots without an adapter plate. Notably, the optics plate sits forward of the rear sight, preserving co-witness capability with irons.

Ported Performance in a Compact Package

One of the ThinLine’s most distinctive features is its integrated barrel and slide porting system. The 3.3-inch barrel terminates slightly behind the front of the slide. Machined ports in the forward section of the slide vent gases upward as the bullet exits, helping reduce muzzle rise. Some gases also interact with the slide cuts to soften rearward impulse.

Despite weighing just over 22 ounces unloaded, the pistol manages recoil impressively well. The grip geometry and extended tang help anchor the hand, while the stout captured recoil spring contributes to brisk but controlled cycling.

Lockup occurs at the ejection port in typical striker-fired fashion, and field stripping mirrors the familiar takedown procedure used by many modern polymer pistols. Reliability during testing proved excellent, with accuracy exceeding expectations for a compact carry gun.

Ergonomics, Capacity, and Real-World Carry

The polymer frame features aggressive multi-pattern texturing across the frontstrap, backstrap, and grip panels. Though it does not use interchangeable backstraps, the contouring provides a comfortable fit for most hand sizes. A reversible magazine release accommodates left-handed shooters, and a raised rib behind the release helps prevent accidental activation.

An accessory rail on the dustcover allows mounting of compact weapon lights increasingly common on everyday carry pistols.

Capacity is a standout feature. The ThinLine ships with three magazines:

  • One 14-round flush-fit magazine
  • One 14-round magazine with finger-extension basepad
  • One 16-round extended magazine

This flexibility allows users to tailor their carry setup for concealment or maximum onboard ammunition. Fully loaded, the platform can support substantial defensive capacity in a remarkably slim footprint.
